Decreto Flussi: A Challenging Path to Obtaining an Italian Visa
Despite these numbers, in our experience as Italian immigration lawyers, we have found that obtaining a visa via Decreto Flussi has proven to be incredibly challenging and often fraught with bureaucratic hurdles. Applicants frequently encounter long waiting times, complex documentation requirements, and stringent eligibility criteria. Additionally, the limited quotas for certain job categories can make it even more difficult for prospective immigrants to secure a visa. As a result, many individuals and employers find themselves navigating a labyrinthine process that requires patience, persistence, and often, professional legal assistance to successfully obtain the necessary permits.
It is for this reason that our firm is currently NOT offering assistance with Decreto Flussi applications and strongly advises our clients to seek other alternative routes.
Eligibility Requirements for Italian Work Visa Under Decreto Flussi
These are some of the key points established in the decree:
- Annual Quotas: The Italian government determines the number of work permits available each year through the Decreto Flussi and this number is up to 165,000 workers for the upcoming 2025 year.
- Categories: The decree encompasses both autonomous (self-employed) and subordinated (employee) work categories.
- Job Offers: Obtaining a job offer from an Italian company is generally a prerequisite for applying under the Decreto Flussi. To apply under the Decreto Flussi, you must have a pre-existing job offer from an Italian company. This is a core requirement, and your employer must be willing to hire you and submit the online application on your behalf.
